Nearly 400 students take
part in the full-time academy semester programs annually, of which 95% go on to
college. Of those 95%, in 2002 80% received some form of college scholarship assistance.
Thousands more, from over 70 countries, attend IMG Academies on a multiple week
basis throughout the year. Athletes who have trained on-site include:
Tennis: Andre Agassi, Monica Seles, Anna Kournikova and Serena and Venus Williams,
Tommy Haas, Xavier Malisse and Maria Sharapova.
Golf: Aree and Naree Wongluekiet, David Gossett, Casey Wittenberg and Ty Tryon.
Baseball: Derek Jeter, Nomar Garciaparra, John VanBenschoten, Scott Williamson
and Wilson Alvarez.
Football: Tim Couch, Chad Pennington, Cade McNown, Grant Wistrom, Freddie Mitchell
and Charlie Batch.
Soccer: Tampa Bay Mutiny, Chicago Fire, NY/NJ MetroStars, San Jose Earthquakes,
Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew, The Chinese Women's National and the U.S. National
Under-18, 17 and 16 Boys and Under 16 Girls Teams.
Basketball: Al Harrington, Jared Jeffries, Tyronn Lue, Erick Barkley, Mikke Moore,
Adonal Foyle, Jeff Foster.
Hockey: Michael Henrich, Drew Fata, Rico Fata, Tim Gleason, Colt King and Rotislav
IMG Academies' forte is its periodization approach to the Technical, Tactical,
Physical, Mental and Nutritional elements of training. The Academy environment
is geared toward producing well-educated athletes who thrive under the pressures
Key IMG Academies' features include: Dormitory housing and the Bollettieri Resort
Villas and Lodges; separate junior and adult cafeterias; swimming pools; Internexus-Florida
(Language School); Sports Medicine Center; Mental Conditioning, fully equipped
pro shops; a computer learning center; indoor courts; a 30,000 square foot artificial
turf dome; and three private school academic options including the on-campus Pendleton
IMG Academies is represented internationally, as well, with a total of eighteen
David Leadbetter Golf Academies and three Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academies across
the U.S., Europe and Asia. Working with IMG's recreational real estate group,
the IMG Academies network of training programs have been at the forefront of sport
development in many markets.
